Mayor Ross commits to a Comprehensive Plan Review in 2008

imageAt the June 16th and July 7th City Council meetings, the council took up the review and approval of our six year Capital Improvement Plan.  During the discussions, District 3 Councilman Solon asked the rest of the council to consider removing funding from several projects.  Two of the projects were Parks Department projects.  The third is development related.

The first was for a parking lot expansion at Vesper Hall to provide more parking for events at Vesper Hall and Rotary Park. 

The second was for a long needed expansion of the park maintenance building at Pink Hill Park.  Councilman Solon was opposed to this expansion because she said that adding showers, a lunch room, a locker room, and some new offices, were luxury's that were not needed at this time. More...

Planning Commission Meeting - July 14, 2008

Parkway PlaceThe commission recommended approval of the Parkway Place Planned Unit Development (PUD) that will bring a mix of office, commercial, and retail uses to the Adams Dairy Parkway.  More information about this project is available at http://www.aboutbluesprings.com/post/2008/06/Parkway-Place-Center---New-Offices-on-the-Parkway.aspx.

An alternative sign plan was approved for the McDonalds on north Highway 7.  This approval is related to the redevelopment of this McDonalds restaurant where a new building is planned to be built to replace the current building.  After much discussion the commission decided to allow McDonalds to retain their original pole sign.

Southridge Monument Sign  An alternative sign plan was approved for Southridge Shopping Center on south Highway 7.

Adams Dairy Landing Finally, an alternative sign plan was approved for the Adams Dairy Landing shopping center at I-70 and Adams Dairy Parkway.

Jackson County 4-H Fair

The Jackson County 4-H Fair will be held July 9-12 at the North Spring UMC, 601 NE Jefferson Street, Blue Springs, Missouri.

The location change is due to tornado damage on Drumm farm Independence, Missouri May 2008

I encourage Blue Springs residents to stop by and walk through and view the terrific 4-H exhibits Open to the public Friday 1-9 and Saturday 1-7 p.m. Aerospace exhibition 1:30 p.m. East parking lot.
