Come and visit with our guest.  Learn history from local people about crocheting original designs, Hardanger needlework, wood working tools, vintage quilts, genealogy, crayon painting with fabric and felt art.

Modern design quilts, old quilts, infant and children’s quilts and one of a kind original quilts on display.

Local Artist will be painting in the garden.




You will not want to miss the miniature quilt display with Kathy Fisher on Saturday.




Sunday will be a must see 1/4 inch pieced quilt by Florence Evans mother Lola Perdue.  It was pieced in 18 months by hand in 1935 and has 75,255 pieces.

Jaguar Pride Marching Band be hosting a competitive car wash on August 7th

On August 7th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Jaguar Pride Marching Band from Blue Springs South High School will be hosting a competitive car wash to raise money for the upcoming competition season.  There will be four locations each hosted by a different section of the band.  The sections will be competing to see who raises the most money.  Zarda BBQ on 7 Hwy will be the sight for "pit and percussion".  The "woodwinds" will be at Las Playas Mexican Restaurant on Woods Chapel.  The Color Guard will have their site at Flowerama at the corner of 7 Hwy and 40 Hwy.  And, the "brass" will be washing cars at the Burger King at the corner of Woods Chapel and 291 in Lee's Summit.  Jaguar Pride will be performing this year in a show hosted by Blue Valley High School, a competition at Missouri State in Springfield, a competition hosted by Odessa High School and finally in a championship show at MU.

IMG_7015 The Dragons Booster Club, where our daughter, Katie Garten, competes in gymnastics, is participating in the Football Gold fundraiser to help raise money for our organization. I am asking you to consider helping us out by making a donation. When you make an online donation, you will receive a Football Gold ticket which provides you with a chance to win cash prizes based on the the outcome of NFL games in the upcoming season. The suggested donation for a ticket is 20 and our organization keeps a majority of the donation. I would really appreciate it if you could help us out. After making an online donation you will receive an email confirming your donation and included in that email will be a link allowing you to choose your game card. Ararat Shrine Circus Coupons are Available Now

The Ararat Shriners have called Kansas City their home since 1888 and have brought the Shrine Circus to Kansas City for 75 years. This year’s 75th Annual Diamond Anniversary performance of the Ararat Shrine Circus will be held at Municipal Auditorium in downtown Kansas City on November 11-14. Circus Script Coupons are available at my office for $10 each. All you need to do is call 816-224-2890 and ask for Theresa Cooper. The coupons can then be redeemed at Ararat Temple. The coupons can be used towards the purchase of both General Admission and Reserved Seats for the performances.  I hope that you and your family will join me and Wanda at this year’s Ararat Shrine Circus!

WHAT: All media is invited to attend a special Press Conference at the Centerpoint Medical Center Community Ice in which representatives from the Truman Heartland Community Foundation will unveil the recipients of the 2010 Heartland Humanitarian of the Year and Corporate Citizen of the Year.

WHEN: Friday, May 21, 2010 (4:30 p.m.)

WHY: Executives from the Truman Heartland Community Foundation will announce this year’s top honorees during a community skate session at the Centerpoint Medical Center Community Ice. Award Recipients will be presented with a special gift from the General Manager of the Independence Events Center. At the conclusion of the presentation, Community Foundation personnel, Independence Events Center Staff and Honorees will be in available for interviews.
