Blue Springs Paper Shredding event aims to help residents dispose of personal documents safely

Blue Springs, Mo. – The City of Blue Springs and the Blue Springs Solid Waste Management Commission are sponsoring a mobile drive-up paper shredding event on Saturday, August 17 from 9-11:30 a.m. at City Hall, 903 W. Main Street.
Blue Springs businesses and residents will able to drop-off up to four paper grocery bags of documents to be shredded on-site. All paper collected during the event will be recycled.

“Blue Springs residents and business owners can dispose of their confidential files and documents safely at this event,” said Mayor Carson Ross. “This paper shredding event is an opportunity for residents to reduce their potential for identity theft and support recycling in our community.”

Red, White and Blue Springs! City Fireworks Features Fun, Fireworks and Music

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The City of Blue Springs invites residents to an Independence Day celebration on Thursday, July 4 at Peve Stadium, 2000 NW Ashton Drive. Guests are welcome to arrive as early as 6:30 p.m. to get a good spot and concessions will be available for the event.

The City has partnered with KFKF-FM Country 94.1 to present a special concert beginning at 7 p.m. featuring Columbia Nashville recording artist Tyler Farr with special guest 6 Degrees West kicking off the free show.

The fireworks display will begin after the concert at 9:30 p.m. Watching a professional fireworks display is a safe, family-friendly way to enjoy the holiday – and it’s free! In case of inclement weather, the display will be moved to Friday, July 5.

This year’s display is sponsored by the City of Blue Springs, KFKF-FM Country 94.1, the Blue Springs McDonalds and the Blue Springs Courtyard by Marriot.

2013 Blue Springs Street Overlay Program

The 2013 Street Overlay Program is currently underway.  This annual maintenance program repaves streets and makes concrete repairs. Installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps and repairs to sidewalks have been incorporated into the program to create safe, walkable paths and meet federal requirements.

Blue Springs Farmers Market – Saturday, June 30 from 7 a.m. to noon in downtown Blue Springs.  Home grown fruits, vegetables, meats and other items for sale that are locally grown or made by hand. The University of Missouri Extension Office will be giving a ‘Cooking of the Day’ class.

Let’s Move! Saturdays – Saturday, June 30 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Burr Oak Woods Nature Center, 1401 Northwest Park Road for “Firefly Adventure”.

Music in the Park Concert – Sunday, July 1 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. the Cover Me Bad alternative/classic rock band will perform from the gazebo at Rotary Park at Railroad Lake, 600 NW Vesper Street. Bring your lawn chairs or blanket and enjoy this free concert event.
