ATK Small Caliber Systems to present a $10,000 check

for the Veterans Way Memorial

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – ATK, which operates the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant adjacent to Blue Springs, has volunteered to be a lead partner for the Veterans Way Memorial. Kent Holiday, the vice president and general manager of ATK Small Caliber Systems, will present a $10,000 check to Blue Springs Mayor Carson Ross on Friday, August 24, at 8 a.m. in a special ceremony in front of Blue Springs City Hall, 903 W. Main Street.

“We are honored to be a lead partner in this unique memorial dedicated to veterans of all wars fought in defense of our nation,” said Holiday. “ATK is proud to be the operator of the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant and a community steward for the City of Blue Springs. Every employee at Lake City is proud to support and honor all the men and women who served in our armed forces.”

“We are grateful to ATK for being one of the lead partners of The Veterans Way Memorial. Blue Springs is fortunate to have excellent business partners to help bring this memorial to our community,” said Mayor Carson Ross.

The Veterans Way Memorial is dedicated to the sacrifice, courage and valor of all veterans who served our nation. The memorial identifies the site where “The Wall That Heals” was exhibited in Blue Springs in 2010. It serves as a place for personal contemplation or reflection for veterans and veterans’ families and friends, and provides a site for educating youth about the historical significance of wars fought in defense of our nation.

The Veterans Way Memorial is being funded by private donations. All funds are set up with the Truman Heartland Community Foundation, a 501-C-3 organization.
